PEOPLE FOR ANIMALS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

This is a reminder that that the PFA Annual General Meeting will be held this Saturday, March 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the George Bothwell Library in the Southland Mall. All members are welcome. Please note that your membership must be up-to-date to vote on motions, and you may renew at the door. Related documents, including 2009 financial statements and information on incumbent and incoming board members, are available on our website at www.people4animals.ca. Coffee and dainties will be served.

KITTEN SEASON - FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!

Spring brings with it a major concern for PFA: kitten season. While they are adorable, kittens don't have much of a chance of survival if born on the streets. They need proper care, food, shelter and love so they will be healthy, well-adjusted and ready to be adopted into forever homes.

PFA is once again seeking caring and responsible foster homes to foster the kittens we rescue this spring. We need people willing to care for mama cats and their litters, and it is likely that we will also need some foster care providers willing to care for orphaned kittens that will need to be bottle fed.

If you or someone you know may be interested in fostering kittens, please contact us. PFA can provide supplies and also handles all adoption advertisements and referrals of suitable adopters.

SPRING STERILIZATION BLITZ

The warmer spring weather means that our feral team is busy with our Trap/Neuter/Release program for feral cats. This is an important initiative to prevent the overpopulation of feral cats, and to prevent the suffering, starvation, disease, and human cruelty that afflicts unwanted homeless cats.

Last year, PFA volunteers trapped and sterilized 197 cats, with feral cats accounting for just over half of that total. That's more than double our numbers from 2008, and and we anticipate a similar volume this year; however, this will be at a higher cost, as the cost of spay and neuter surgeries went up in the city on January 1, 2010.

If you would like to help make a difference to the street cat population in Regina, please consider making a donation to PFA for this important initiative. We accept donations on our website.

GOT THE MUNCHIES?

The next time you take in a movie at the Rainbow Cinema or shop in the Golden Mile Mall, please visit the PFA candy dispenser for your cravings! This machine was donated by a member of our feral team for fundraising purposes, and features an assortment of sweet and salty snacks.
