Foster Home Coordinator

Purpose

As a member of the Regina Cat Rescue (RCR) Foster Home team, you will be responsible for the assessment of potential foster homes, placement of tame cats into suitable foster homes and oversight of the care provided to cats while in RCR foster homes. You will also ensure that appropriate vet care is provided for foster cats, including sterilizations, and ensure adoption support is provided to foster homes. You will be responsible to coordinate foster home liaison volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with Feral Team Officer and Pet Rescue Officer, determine intake of rescued cats, coordinate necessary vet care and determine suitable foster home placements
  • Ensure foster cats receive vaccinations, anti-parasitic treatments and are advertised for adoption in a timely manner
  • Ensure supplies such as vaccine, de-worming medication and ear mite medications are available
  • Ensure foster homes complete foster home contract
  • Ensure adoption packages and paperwork are provided to foster homes
  • Support foster homes by answering questions, ensuring foster care providers are aware of risks and take measures to protect their own cats (RCR will provide vaccinations at no charge)
  • Maintain sterilization records and adoption records
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding intake and adoption

Time Commitment

  • Variable, but can be 15-20 hours per week during peak times

  • Knowledge of common cat illnesses and signs of illness in cats
  • Organizational and time management skills to juggle busy workload and multiple requests for assistance
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
