It's been a Cruel Summer for Rescued Cats

The recent months have been some of the hardest that RCR has ever endured with the usual increased rescue activity during kitten season compounded by the rising homelessness crisis in Regina. The number of requests for help with mamas and kittens has been unprecedented.

Gorgeous young mama, Katherine, and her beautiful kittens were living stray and struggling to survive in downtown Regina when a concerned local business notified Regina Cat Rescue of their plight, living under a seacan. Despite being overwhelmed, an RCR volunteer was quick to respond and get them into care as there were no resources or help for the little family at the location.

Thankfully, the family was rounded up in short order and mama Katherine proved to be very tame. The kittens have come around quickly despite a lack of early socialization - they were young enough at just 5-6 weeks.

The young family is doing well and thriving in foster care. The kittens play up a storm! We are grateful to our dedicated volunteers and foster homes who make room for these special rescues. We look forward to seeing these precious kitties find forever homes.
