Western Pizza Volunteer

Purpose: As a Western Pizza Volunteer, you will assist with Regina cat Rescue’s fundraising efforts  through working at WP kiosks during Rider Home Games and other Mosaic events. You will work closely with a group of other volunteers to ensure operations in the kiosk run smoothly, while accessing team leads for support as necessary. *Note that this volunteer opportunity qualifies for the Fine Option Program and requires you to complete and obtain SORS training, which costs $10 and can be reimbursed upon completion and after working 3 games (without completion of, you are unable to serve alcohol and work the cash register). As a remote based organization, please note RCR does not have an office or facility.

Responsibilities: Please note not all of the following responsibilities are required for every volunteer that fills a spot with WP events such as serving alcohol, working the cash register, or cooking food.

  • Respond to customers promptly by taking orders, preparing and/or serving food

  • Enforce strict two drink maximum, checking customer ID for alcohol sales

  • Receive payment and provide accurate change, while operating a till 

  • Ensure cash out at end of shift is accurate

  • Respond to customers and WP lead requests appropriately, politely, and in a timely manner

  • Assist in clean up at the end of the shift – ensure dishes are washed and put away, floors are swept and washed, and drinks and cup counts are accurate

  • Other activities as directed by board of directors/WP lead

Time Commitment: 5 – 6 hours per game, other events may be longer which you would be notified in advance and able to decline.

Please note while we do our best to accurately reflect the time commitment required to ensure interested individuals are aware, it may fluctuate depending on the time of year and seasons.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Age requirement of 19+ is a requirement to legally serve alcoholic beverages

  • SORS training

  • Ability to work with the public in a polite and collegial manner

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Commitment to RCR’s mission and love of animals

  • Access to reliable internet coverage and phone or computer with access to email, as this is the primary means of communication to schedule events

  • Ability to work well as a team player

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Basic mathematical knowledge 

  • Ability to connect with a diverse range of individuals in the public in a polite and cordial manner

  • Past experience in public service/serving setting is a strong asset
