Western Pizza Volunteer

Purpose: As a Western Pizza Volunteer, you will assist with Regina cat Rescue’s fundraising efforts  through working at WP kiosks during Rider Home Games and other Mosaic events. You will work closely with a group of other volunteers to ensure operations in the kiosk run smoothly, while accessing team leads for support as necessary. *Note that this volunteer opportunity qualifies for the Fine Option Program and requires you to complete and obtain SORS training, which costs $10 and can be reimbursed upon completion and after working 3 games (without completion of, you are unable to serve alcohol and work the cash register). As a remote based organization, please note RCR does not have an office or facility.

Responsibilities: Please note not all of the following responsibilities are required for every volunteer that fills a spot with WP events such as serving alcohol, working the cash register, or cooking food.

  • Respond to customers promptly by taking orders, preparing and/or serving food

  • Enforce strict two drink maximum, checking customer ID for alcohol sales

  • Receive payment and provide accurate change, while operating a till 

  • Ensure cash out at end of shift is accurate

  • Respond to customers and WP lead requests appropriately, politely, and in a timely manner

  • Assist in clean up at the end of the shift – ensure dishes are washed and put away, floors are swept and washed, and drinks and cup counts are accurate

  • Other activities as directed by board of directors/WP lead

Time Commitment: 5 – 6 hours per game, other events may be longer which you would be notified in advance and able to decline.

Western Pizza Volunteer Lead

Purpose: As a Western Pizza Volunteer Lead you will work in collaboration with the Volunteer Relations lead to meet Regina Cat Rescues fundraising goals through the presence of RCR at Mosaic Stadium events in the WP Kiosk. You will work with a team of WP Volunteers and RCR leads to coordinate volunteers to attend each event, along with actively recruiting, supervising, training, and assisting volunteers at events, as needed. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home aside from attending events or occasional in person meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the Volunteer Relations lead to receive applications of interested volunteers and assess for suitability

  • Supervise, train, and assist volunteers: working with the support of other WP Leads to ensure each event has 20 - 25 volunteers, including the back station where food is prepared and each event has a Main Lead assigned, to meet volunteers early, hand out passes and T-shirts, and pick them up at the end of each game, plus provide support and assistance at each event. You will clearly communicate to each volunteer their responsibilities and tasks. 

  • Liaise with Western Pizza concession owners to obtain Rider Game schedules and other events scheduled as needed

  • Pick up cheques from Western Pizza head office when ready and deposit to RCR accounts as able 

  • Promote other general volunteer opportunities in line with RCR’s missions, values, and vision

  • Respond to relevant emails from the public and other RCR volunteers

  • Keep detailed records of events, volunteers in attendance, monetary funds earned, etc. 

  • Commit to attend monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and other RCR members, where you will provide an oral/written report 

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: 5 – 6 hours per event, some may go over a 6 hour time frame.

Volunteer Relations Lead

Purpose: As a volunteer, the Volunteer Relations Lead plays an integral role to assist and support any incoming and current volunteers in Regina Cat Rescues operations. You will work collaboratively with other volunteers to identify roles which require volunteers and which roles are filled, and ensure to notify appropriate person(s) so RCR’s website and social media is reflective of our volunteer needs. You will work to assess applicants, assist in onboarding approved applicants, and share their information with the appropriate persons. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home mostly, aside from the occasional time when you meet individuals in person. 

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review, and assess incoming volunteer applicants, responding to volunteer applicants with further information to ensure they are still interested. Please note a follow up text and/or phone call may be required as email is not always a reliable way to communicate with interested individuals. Follow up via these means ensures the information is received by the individual.

  • Complete onboarding protocol with new volunteers as laid out in RCR onboarding procedures, ensuring the appropriate leads and admin have been notified

  • Assist with recruiting efforts through collaborating with other RCR leads, ensuring roles RCR is actively recruiting for and/or filled roles are accurately depicted as such, and roles and responsibilities are clearly explained to interested applicants  

  • Ensure accepted applicants have their information entered into RCR internal database

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant emails from RCR volunteers and the public in a timely manner

  • Assess volunteer satisfaction and ensure volunteers feel appreciated as valued members of the RCR team

  • Commit to monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and other RCR volunteers, where you will provide an oral/written report

Time Commitment: 2 – 4 hours per week.

Transportation Support

Purpose: As a volunteer Transportation Support you will play an integral role in Regina Cat Rescues operations. You will assist in the transportation of cats and/or supplies to and from various locations such as veterinarian appointments or foster homes. As a remote-based organization, please note RCR does not have an office space/facility. 

Responsibilities:

  • Picking up and dropping off supplies to volunteers within RCR such as foster homes, community cat teams, etc. 

  • Picking up and dropping off cats to their veterinarian appointments, and transporting them back to their foster home after their appointment has ended

  • Keeping a detailed record of your day to day activities, so the appropriate leads and/or RCR volunteers are able to ensure their records are kept up to date and accurate

  • Provide up to date information regarding your availability to RCR team 

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: Varies, 1 – 3 hours a week. 

Please note these times are not consecutive, as it entails pick up and drop off and could require a few requests during your stated availability. RCR does not expect volunteers to be available with every request, as it is shared amongst a group of individuals in hopes one of the individuals has availability to meet RCRs needs.

TNR Team Member

Purpose: As a volunteer Trap Neuter/Spay and Release (TNR) Team Member, you will play an instrumental role in Regina Cat Rescue’s rescue efforts. You will work closely with other TNR Team Members to humanely  trap stray and/or feral cats into carriers, or pick up friendly cats to place them in a carrier. You will assess the cat’s state and whether they require immediate medical attention or are safe to go to a temporary boarding place/foster home. As a remote-based organization, please note RCR does not have an office space/facility. 

Responsibilities:

  • Respond in a timely manner to RCR’svolunteers when they reach out with rescue requests

  • After receiving details of the situation (last known/current location, cat’s descriptions/photos, etc.) you will go to the location and work to secure the cat in a humane way through trapping/coaxing/handling. When trapping, you will monitor the trap (further instruction will be provided through appropriate training and education). 

  • Whether successful or not in securing the cat, you will be expected to notify the designated RCR Lead. If successful, you will complete a visual assessment of the cat – Check for signs of distress, identifying marks (tattoo/collar/etc.), and any medical concerns (matted fur, injuries, bleeding, ear mites, etc.) and notify the appropriate RCR Lead if immediate veterinarian attention is required. Ensure the rescued cat is dropped off to the foster home location as directed by the rescue team member, unless immediate veterinarian attention is required. 

  • Keep detailed records of your efforts, which will be submitted to community cat team leads and/or other rescue team members as directed

  • Other responsibilities may be discussed as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: Varies – humane trapping can take an hour or several hours over several days, depending on the cat(s) and situation

  • Flexible schedule (perfect for university student with set schedule, someone working part time, or someone retired)

  • Willingness to work in all areas of Regina

  • Knowledge of common cat illnesses and injuries, what to look for, and how to distinguish what potential ailment requires immediate medical attention is an asset

Supply Coordinator

Purpose: The role of volunteer Supply Coordinator is essential to Regina Cat Rescues operations. This role is essential in keeping Foster Home Volunteers stocked with supplies provided by RCR to care for the well-being of the rescued cat in care. You will keep a detailed inventory of all supplies, respond to requests for supplies from Foster Home Volunteers and/or RCR leads, and submit requests to order supplies as needed. As a remote-based organization, please note RCR does not have an office space/facility. 

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review, and respond to incoming emails as needed  

  • Coordinate pick up and/or drop off of supplies to person’s requesting. I.e. Foster homes requesting food or litter; request of microchip purchase; community cat feeders needing kibble/soft food delivered to feeders homes.

  • Create an inventory spreadsheet to accurately reflect RCR’s supplies, ensuring it is kept up to date to accurately reflect current inventory

  • Submit supply orders as needed 

  • Respond to relevant emails from the public offering to donate supply items to RCR, coordinating drop off or pick up of items as needed

  • Commit to monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and Rescue team, where you will provide an oral/written report 

  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Board of Directors 

Time Commitment: 1 – 3 hours per week

Social Media Content Creator

Purpose: As a volunteer Social Media Content Creator you will play an essential role in showcasing Regina Cat Rescues efforts through public platforms. You will work closely with the Communications and Marketing Social Media Lead and other RCR volunteers  to engage the public through creative content on RCR’s various social media platforms. Please note this role does not assist with RCR’s website and/or design assets. As a remote-based organization, please note RCR does not have an office space/facility. 

Responsibilities:

  • After receiving directions and guidance, create content to display on RCR’s social media platforms, ensuring they are reflective of current and upcoming events and in alignment with RCR’s initiatives

    • This includes attending any RCR events and/or meeting with volunteers to take pictures and videos, and using editing software to create reels and content, etc. 

  • Assist with drafting written posts to display on social media: requests for volunteers, calls for donations/sponsorships/memberships, donor/grant/membership/sponsorship recognition, content about rescue efforts, featuring rescued cats/adoptable cats

  • Provide updates to the Communications and Marketing Social Media Lead, so they can accurately create bi-monthly board reports

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: 2 – 4 hours per work, depending on project: this would include any meetings, email/phone communication, recording, and editing of content

Revenue Development Lead

Purpose: As the volunteer Revenue Development Lead you will play an essential role in Regina Cat Rescues revenue stream. You will assist in the creation of a strategic plan to ensure RCR is able to secure monetary funds to meet the needs of the various initiatives and operations. You will manage a team of volunteers and work in collaboration with other leads to create and meet the annual revenue plan. As a remote-based organization, you will be expected to work from home aside from the occasional in person meeting. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and be available to assist other Revenue Development team members

  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to other Revenue Development volunteers

  • Work in collaboration with other RCR members to create an annual strategic revenue plan, ensuring it is in accordance with RCR’s initiatives and is kept current

  • Maintain records of fundraising activities, donors, grants, members, and sponsorships in collaboration with other Revenue Development team members. Ensuring the information is kept current and up to date, and saved to Google Drive

  • Work in collaboration with Revenue Development volunteers to ensure the appropriate persons are provided the acknowledgement as discussed and decided upon in the strategic plan

  • Assist with any fundraising  activities that are conducted in accordance with the SK Liquor and Gaming Authority, and all other applicable regulations.

  • In collaboration with other RCR volunteers, establish and maintain an annual budget to accurately reflect strategic plans and current revenue development activities, ensuring the budget stays within the measures as discussed 

  • Collaborate with other team members as necessary to ensure revenue development activities are appropriately reflected through RCR via social media, website, e-bulletin, blog, etc., and review and suggest edits as necessary

  • Provide year-end tangibles to donors, members, and sponsors specific to where their contributions have gone

  • Research potential grants, submit inquiries and proposals, and other written records as necessary

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant emails from RCR volunteers and the public

  • Commit to monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and RCR team members, where you will provide an oral/written report 

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: 4 - 6 hours per week.

Neonatal Foster Parent

Purpose: As a Neonatal Foster Parent volunteer you will play an integral role in Regina Cat Rescues operations by housing rescued neonatal kittens temporarily. You will care for them as if they are your own and prepare them for adoption to permanent homes. You will commit to providing regular updates to RCR volunteers, commit to following RCR policies and procedures, and assist with RCR’s goal to find every rescued cat a loving home. As a remote-based organization, RCR does not have an office space or facility and therefore our organization simply would not be able to help the cats that we do without volunteer Foster Parents. 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily care for rescued cats which includes but is not limited to feeding, providing fresh and accessible water, ensuring litter box(es) are well maintained and clean, and socializing your foster cat(s) through play and affection: Please note at times care for neonatal kittens may require extensive, long hours, with care being required every 2 - 3 hours. This ensures they are getting the appropriate nutrients, toileting (neonatal kittens require assistance with this), and gaining weight appropriately. RCR is grateful to have an informed and well-versed volunteer, who will assist with providing training prior to acceptance.

  • Transport cat(s) in your care to and from their veterinarian appointments or communicate in a timely fashion when you are  unavailable to do so,

  • Ensure you have the appropriate supplies necessary to care for a cat, and if not, clearly communicate what supplies are needed to the Supply Coordinator

  • Liaise with RCR members to review adoption applications, scheduling a meet and greet with potential adoptive families, and assess appropriateness of the applicant. 

  • Ensure the Foster Home Management Lead is provided regular updates regarding the health and well-being of the cat in your care, along with a write up and photos when the cat is adoptable 

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: Placement of rescued cats can range from a few weeks to upwards of six months, depending on the needs of the cats and adoption activity. As adoption activity is cyclical, and can decline and increase during different times of the year.

  • Awareness of basic cat care such as when and how much to feed cat(s), litter box maintenance, cat proofing a home, etc., willing to learn/know specific care neonatal kittens require

  • Access to reliable internet coverage and phone or computer with access to email, as this is the primary means of communication to schedule events

  • Knowledge of common cat illnesses and signs of illnesses (training and information will be provided)

Neonatal Lead

Purpose: As the volunteer Neonatal lead, you play an integral role in rescued kittens that are placed into the care of Regina Cat Rescue. You will work closely with the rescue team to provide support for incoming neonatal and kitten requests, ensure kittens in care receive  the appropriate care necessary to thrive, and assist with smooth transitions from foster home to adoptive home. You will commit to training and supervising a small, dedicated group of Neonatal Foster Home Volunteers, while assessing their home situation for suitability and availability. As a remote-based organization, you will work from home aside from occasional meetings in person or attending foster homes to provide assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily care for rescued kittens, which includes but is not limited to feeding, providing fresh and accessible water, ensuring litter box(es) are well maintained and clean, and socializing foster kittens in your care through play and affection: Please note at times care for neonatal kittens may require extensive, long hours, with care every 2 - 3 hours. This ensures they are getting the appropriate nutrients, toileting (neonatal kittens require assistance with this), and gaining weight appropriately. RCR is grateful to have an informed and well-versed volunteer, who will assist with providing training prior to acceptance.

  • Assist with training and supervising registered Neonatal Foster Home Volunteers

  • Ensure neonatal foster homes have the appropriate supplies to get started and continue to have as such along their journey, in collaboration with the Supply Coordinator

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant emails from RCR volunteers and the public in a timely manner

  • Commit to providing reports to Foster Home Management Lead, so RCR’s database can be kept up to date and accurately reflect kittens under RCR’s care

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: Commitment varies depending on placements in your home. As placements of rescued cats can range from a few weeks to upwards of six months, depending on the needs of the kittens and adoption activity. Adoption activity tends to be cyclical, and can decline and increase different times of the year.

  • Knowledge of common cat illnesses and signs of illnesses, and when immediate medical attention is required, awareness of basic kitten/cat care such as when and how much to feed kittens, litter box maintenance, kitten proofing a home, etc. would be an asset, but a willingness to learn would suffice if all other requirements are met.

  • Past experience in an animal related career is a strong asset

Media Relations Coordinator

Purpose: As the Media Relations Coordinator volunteer, you will play an important role in showcasing Regina Cat Rescues efforts to the public. You will work closely with members of the Communications and Marketing team to develop a marketing strategy, and work to implement it and bring media attention to RCR’s day to day operations and various initiatives. As RCR does not operate out of a facility, this role is a home-based position, with occasional in-person meetings. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of an annual marketing strategy

  • Complete proactive media outreach to ensure RCR’s operations and initiatives receive the appropriate media coverage and attention

  • Collaborate with RCR volunteers to stay up to date with all initiatives, so you can update the marketing calendar and arrange interviews, media coverage, etc. as appropriate 

  • Promotion of events and fundraising initiatives in community publications and listings - both online and offline 

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant incoming emails from RCR volunteers and the public

  • Assist with providing education to the public/volunteers as needed in collaboration with the Community Education Facilitator 

  • Commit to monthly meetings with Operations Manager and RCR teams, where you will provide an oral/written report

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week.

Photographer

Purpose: As a volunteer photographer, you will play a vital role in Regina Cat Rescue adoption efforts. You will accurately depict RCR’s adoptable cats in care and/or at RCR events, which will be displayed on RCRs website, social media platforms, and RCR literature. You will work closely with other RCR volunteers to stay up to date on any ongoing RCR events and adoptable cats, while editing and submitting completed photographs in a timely manner to a team lead. As a remote-based organization, RCR does not have an office space or facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Visit foster homes to take photographs of RCR rescued cats awaiting for their fur-ever home, which will be featured on adoption profiles on the RCR website and various social media platforms, and other RCR literature

    • Edit photos of cats

    • Aim to get 5 to 7 good pictures at each assignment, with a variation in close up, body shots, and other poses

    • Submit edited photographs to communications and marketing lead

  • Attend RCR events to take pictures, which will be featured on social media platforms and RCR literature to accurately depict RCR initiatives and events

    • Ensure any people appearing in the photos provide signed consent

    • Edit photos of events

    • Aim to get 5 to 10 good pictures at each event, with a variation in poses/frames 

    • Submit edited photographs to communications and marketing lead

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Fundraising Coordinator

Purpose: The volunteer Fundraising Coordinator plays an essential role in Regina Cat Rescue fundraising efforts. You will work closely with the Revenue Development Lead to create an annual revenue development strategy and calendar. You will manage and oversee a team of volunteers to ensure scheduled fundraising events are a success, providing assistance and support as needed. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home mostly, aside from the occasional time when you meet individuals in person and/or commit to attending fundraising events. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of an annual revenue development plan, where you will provide a proposed budget, which you will continue to review and keep up to date to accurately reflect ongoing fundraising efforts

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant incoming emails from RCR volunteers and the public

  • Coordinate the planning and execution of fundraising events, delegating tasks to Event Volunteers, while overseeing the positive outcome and success of the event

  • Communicate with other RCR members to ensure the events and activities are provided the attention needed to bring in revenue 

  • Collaborate with the Revenue Development Lead and Board Treasurer to ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with SK Liquor and Gaming Authority, or other applicable regulations. 

  • Assist in assessing the success of fundraising events by providing the appropriate data and information as set out and agreed upon during the annual revenue development planning

  • Commit to monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and RCR teams, where you will provide an oral/written report

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: Varies, 2 – 3 hours per week; your presence may not always be required at events, provided there are enough volunteers assigned to events related to fundraising.

Foster Parent

Purpose: As a Foster Home volunteer you will play an integral role in Regina Cat Rescue’s operations. You will agree to temporarily house rescued cats, caring for them as if they are your own and preparing them for adoption into permanent homes. You will commit to providing regular updates to RCR volunteers, commit to following RCR policies and procedures, and assist with RCR’s goal to find every rescued cat a loving home. As a remote-based organization, RCR does not have an office space or facility and therefore our organization simply would not be able to help the cats that we do without volunteer Foster Homes. 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily care for rescued cats, includes but is not limited to feeding, providing fresh and accessible water, ensuring litter box(es) are well maintained and clean, and socializing your foster cat(s) through play and affection

  • Transport cat(s) in your care to and from their veterinarian appointments or communicate in a timely fashion when you are unavailable to do so

  • Ensure you have the appropriate supplies necessary to care for a cat, and if not, clearly communicating what supplies are needed to the Supply Coordinator

  • Liaise with other RCR volunteers to review adoption applications, scheduling a meet and greet with potential adoptive families, and assess appropriateness of the applicant. 

  • Ensure the Foster Management Lead is provided regular updates regarding the health and well-being of the cat in your care,submitting write ups and pictures when cat is adoptable

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Time Commitment: Placement of rescued cats can range from a few weeks to upwards of six months, depending on the needs of the cats and adoption activity. As adoption activity is cyclical, and can decline and increase during different times of the year.   • Effective at interpreting and applying RCR’s adoption criteria and any other policies relating to foster home

  • Awareness of basic cat care such as when and how much to feed cat(s), litter box maintenance, cat proofing a home, etc.

  • Willingness to learn or existing knowledge of caring for neonatal/small kittens with/without their mom and how to transition kittens from their mom when time is ready

  • Knowledge of common cat illnesses and signs of illnesses (training and information will be provided)

Foster Management Lead

Purpose: As the volunteer Foster Management Lead, you will play a vital role in Regina Cat Rescues operations and rescue efforts. You will work closely with other RCR volunteers to recruit, assess, and support Foster Home volunteers. You will assess and place rescued cats into appropriate foster homes, overseeing their health and well-being while they remain in RCR’s care. You will work closely with other team members to ensure the transition from foster home to adoptive home goes smoothly. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home mostly, aside from the occasional time when you meet individuals in person. 

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with other RCR volunteers to recruit and assess potential foster homes for suitability 

  • Assist with intake and placement of rescued cats into RCRs care, assessing whether they require immediate medical attention or can be placed into the suitable home placement

  • Ensure cats in RCRs care maintain up to date veterinarian care, coordinating with Transportation Support volunteers as needed; providing vaccines and treatments to rescued cats as required

  • Liaise with veterinarian clinics, establishing and maintaining a healthy and positive working relationships with the various clinics

  • In collaboration with the Supply Coordinator, ensure foster home volunteers are provided the necessary supplies needed to ensure the health and well-being of the rescued cats upon intake and ongoing

  • Support foster homes by answering questions, ensuring foster homes are aware of risks and take measure to protect their own cats; checking in for regular updates of status of rescued cat, coordinating write ups and pictures of cats to be sent to the Communications and Marketing team to post on RCR’s website and social media platforms

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant emails daily, as this will be a primary method of which foster homes and other team members will provide their communication through

  • Ensure information on RCR’s internal database is accurate and kept up to date

  • Commit to monthly meeting with the Operations Manager and other RCR team members, where you will provide an oral/written report 

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Donations/Grants/Membership/Sponsorship Coordinator

Purpose: As a volunteer, the Donation, Grant, Membership, and Sponsorship Coordinator plays an integral role in Regina Cat Rescues revenue development. You will work closely with the Revenue Development team to establish and retain donors, grants, members, and sponsorships to support RCR’s initiatives and financial goals. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home mostly, aside from the occasional time when you meet individuals in person. 

Responsibilities:

  • Donations: 

    • Welcome and thank all new donors. 

    • Research potential incentives for donors and areas where RCR can focus to create new donor relationships, and maintain communication with existing donors to continue building the relationship and ensure they feel appreciated and valued. 

    • Collaborate with RCR teams to ensure donors are provided the appropriate recognition on RCR’s website and/or social media platforms. 

    • Keep detailed and accurate records. 

  • Grants: 

    • Assist with the writing of grant inquiries, proposals, and thank you letters. 

    • Assist with the research of grants. 

    • Collaborate with RCR teams to ensure donors are provided the appropriate recognition on RCR’s website and/or social media platforms. Keep detailed and accurate records. 

  • Memberships: 

    • Maintain an up to date membership list, including the date they became and ceased membership status, and all current contact information (mailing address, email address, and phone numbers). 

    • Welcome new members and send membership renewals. 

    • Assist in promotion of memberships, working to actively recruit new members and ways to work with the community to retain memberships. Leading membership renewals and sales drives to encourage the community and current supporters support RCR’s efforts through membership status. Collaborate with RCR teams to ensure members are provided the appropriate recognition on RCR’s website and/or social media platforms.

    • Keep detailed and accurate records. 

  • Sponsorships: 

    • Research potential incentives for sponsorships. 

    • Welcome and thank all new sponsors.

    • Approach local businesses to see of their interest in supporting RCR’s operations

    • Collaborate with RCR teams to ensure sponsors are provided the appropriate recognition on RCR’s website and/or social media platforms.

  • Receive, review, and response to relevant emails from the public and RCR volunteers

  • Commit to monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and RCR teams where you will provide an oral/written update

Time Commitment: 2 – 4 hours per week.

Data Analysis

Purpose: As the Data Analysis volunteer you will play a vital role in tracking data for Regina Cat Rescue operations. You will work closely with other RCR volunteers to obtain, track, and analyze data. You will utilize your area of expertise to provide a thorough explanation of your analysis and how RCR can improve on their efforts, including suggestions on how RCR can make the most of the internal database and any other programs as requested. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home mostly, aside from the occasional time when you meet individuals in person. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team leads to obtain, track, and analyze data, which may include but is not limited to: 

    • Analyzing data on cats in care, length of time in care

    • Revenue streams 

    • Social media and website marketing data 

  • Work to transition RCR’s organization from use of paper records to fully digital 

  • Work to identify any incomplete information and discrepancies, and assist to resolve such challenges

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant incoming emails from RCR volunteers and the public

  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager, Board of Directors, and RCR team leads to create  a user manual for any software programs utilized for RCR operations, 

  • Provide training to incoming and existing volunteers on how to effectively and efficiently use the software and when

  • Commit to monthly meetings with  the Operations Manager and RCR teams, where you will provide an oral written report 

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Community Education Facilitator

Purpose: As a volunteer, the Community Education Facilitator plays an essential role in Regina Cat Rescues mission to educate the public. You will work closely with RCR volunteers to provide education to the general public and volunteers, work to build and maintain positive and healthy community partnerships, and assist in the development of educational materials. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home mostly, aside from scheduled workshops and meetings with individuals

Responsibilities:

  • Research and write educational articles for website, social media, and event collateral

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant incoming emails from RCR volunteers and the public

  • Provide education to the public regarding a variety of topics that are in line  with RCR’s initiatives (such as: benefits and the importance of spay/neutering your pets, how to help strays, importance of keeping pets indoors, why declawing is inhumane/not best practice, cat care 101)

  • Create, develop, and implement educational content for RCR marketing material, blogs, e-bulletin pertaining to RCR’s current and upcoming initiatives 

  • Coordinate, schedule, and plan community education events - such as trade shows, adoption events, festivals, etc. to maintain RCR’s presence in the community

  • With the assistance of other volunteers, schedule workshops within the organization to meet the educational needs of RCR volunteers such as vaccine/treatments, neonatal, trapping

  • With the assistance of other volunteers, schedule ongoing workshops in the community to recruit volunteers in areas as needed such as fosters, community cat feeders, mosaic volunteers, etc. 

  • Ensure annual RCR calendar accurately reflects community education and event activities, and are alignment with RCR’s missions, values, and current initiatives 

  • Commit to monthly meetings with the Operations Manager and RCR teams, where you will provide an oral/written report

Community Cat Lead

Purpose: As a volunteer, the Community Cat Lead plays an integral role in Regina Cat Rescues rescue efforts. You will supervise and assist a team of volunteers to strive towards RCR’s commitment to support the feral and stray cat population in the community by providing care. You will work to educate and raise awareness of RCR initiatives such as the Trap Neuter (Spay) and Release and Community Cat Feeding Stations. As a remote-based organization, you will be working from home mostly, aside from the occasional time when you meet individuals in person. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and coordinate a team of volunteers for feeding stations, to ensure each colony throughout Regina has a volunteer scheduled as required, including keeping a backup feeder list up to date 

  • Source supplies for winter shelters, as well as  coordinate and assist with repair and maintenance of existing community cat shelters, and replacing as required

  • Coordinate trapping of animals with TNR members, assisting when required; providing training on trapping in collaboration with the Community Education Facilitator

  • Keep detailed records of incoming cats and supplies, inputting and maintaining data to RCRs internal database

  • Receive, review, and respond to relevant emails from other RCR team members and the public

  • Commit to monthly meetings with Operations Manager and RCR teams, where you will provide an oral/written report

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors

Community Cat Feeder

Purpose: As a  volunteer Community Cat Feeder, you will be a caregiver to Regina’s feral and stray cat population. This role helps to combat cat overpopulation, while improving the feral and stray cat’s health and quality of life. You will work to ensure cats are provided with food, water, and care, and work to identify injured and/or unsterilized cats in need of humane trapping. As a remote-based organization, please note RCR does not have an office space/facility. 

Note: Feral cats (community cats) are the offspring of unsterilized lost or abandoned stray/feral cats, who are unsocialized and fearful of humans. They find it difficult to adapt to living as pets, due to their preference of living independently and self-defence behaviors. While they may change said behaviors (typically hissing and growling) as they learn to trust humans that regularly feed them, and provide them with water and care, they often retain their feral habits which make it difficult to place them in homes. Stray cats are abandoned or lost cats, who once socialized with humans and retained their tame nature but live on the streets. While tame, they could regress to feral state after living without human contact for long periods of time.

Responsibilities:

  • On an agreed upon date, you commit to a route specific to you where you will deliver food and water one day per week to cat colonies. 

  • You will maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to RCR’s policies

  • You will assess cats in the area, if able, for possible injuries and unsterilized and report any immediately to designated person(s)

  • Assist with spring/fall clean-up of feeding stations, shelters, and assist with winter prep

  • Other responsibilities as directed by Board of Directors
