EVENT VOLUNTEERS WANTED!

Make a significant difference in the lives of Regina Cat Rescue cats by raising money to pay for their care.

RCR volunteers work the Western Pizza booth at events, including Saskatchewan Roughrider home games! These games are one of RCR's biggest fundraisers, and we get paid per volunteer spot that we fill, so it's important that we get the max number of volunteers possible. This valuable, consistent source of funds enables us to pay for veterinary care for Regina's abandoned cats and kittens.

You’ll work alongside a fantastic (and fun!) team. Volunteer duties include setting up the concession, serving pizza, drinks and other concession items, taking payments and giving change to patrons, and closing down the concession. Shifts are approximately 5 to 6 hours in length.

Volunteer just a few hours of your time and you'll be making a significant contribution to RCR.

THE SCHEDULE INCLUDES:

SIGN UP HERE!

Volunteers must be 19 years or older, as volunteers will be pouring or selling alcohol (there is a limit of three underage volunteers per shift to serve as runners).

New volunteers should complete the Special Occasion Responsible Service (SORS) training. SORS is an online course required of all volunteers who serve or sell alcohol as part of an unpaid special occasion position (such as events at Mosaic). Without the course you can still volunteer at these events, but won’t be able to work the cash register and/or serve alcohol. We need a minimum number of volunteers who can work the cash register and/or serve alcohol, so it’s a great benefit to RCR if you complete it. Here are the details:

  • The online course takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

  • There are different versions of this course; the one required for volunteers is SORS and costs $10. Please pay upfront and we will reimburse you after you work three stadium events for RCR.

  • Take the course here. Or go to https://stec.skillbuilder.co/catalog/38/2

  • When completing your registration, identify the organization as Regina Cat Rescue.

  • Once completed, please email a screen shot or photo of your certificate to volunteer@reginacatrescue.com.

Good night, Sweet Sydney.

Sydney prior to ilness

RCR lost one of our sweetest rescues this week when poor Sydney succumbed to a strange illness that may have been related to toxicity or possibly FIP.

We had high hopes for this pretty girl when she first came into care after being rescued from the street life as a young kitten. She was shy, but thrived in foster care and enjoyed the company of other cats.

Eventually, she found a home of her own but was sadly returned due to her timidity and lack of interaction with the family and other pets.

Upon return, Sydney demonstrated several concerning symptoms including a wobbly gait, and severe lethargy due to immume mediated anemia. We had her hospitalized to recieve a blood transfusion and hoped for the best.

on her way home with high hopes for recovery

handsome rcr alum arthur provided his blood to help sydney.

At first, things were looking up and her Packed Cell Volume ( PCV) was approaching normal levels after the transfusion. Unfortunately, it was short lived and she was back at the clinic in decine just a few days later.

We sadly had to make the decision to let her go. She leaves many friends behind.

RIP, Sweet Sydney. You will be missed.

As always, these rescue stories and heroic efforts are only possible due to your support. Please visit Regina Cat Rescuefor information on donating, volunteering and adopting.

Motley Makes it Into Care!

Motley was a community cat at a busy feeding station that was impacted by the fire of a nearby home that added multiple cats to an already bad situation. Regina Cat Rescue did what we could to rescue as many as possible, but we knew there were cats left behind. One of them was Motley, and we grew increasingly concerned as his condition deteriorated.

motley looking rough on the street

Motley frequented the feeding station and we had a feeling he was tame, but he was skittish and evaded capture. Thankfully, we were finally able to nab him thanks to a dedicated volunteer who dedicated her time to get him to safety.

motley rescued

As expected, Motley turned out to be a very sweet and loving boy who can’t get enough attention and love. He craves attention! And he’s so sweet we just have to give it to him.

Motley safe in care

Poor Motley needed a full body shave to deal with severe matting but he’s taking it in stride. He’s just so happy to be safe and loved he can rock whatever comes his way.

We are so happy for sweet Motley and know he will find the perfect forever home soon!
