Duchess
/Adopted November 13th, 2010
This sleek and elegant young female is Duchess, a lovely 1-2 year old cat who has earned her regal name with her gracious behaviour under very stressful circumstances.
Duchess gave birth to a litter of 6 kittens in a yard in Eastview in early July. The homeowners found her sheltering under the bumper of an old car, battered and bearing scars from living as a stray. They quickly set up a shelter for the little cat family and looked after them until we were able to locate a foster home for them.
Duchess came to PFA when her babies were 10 days old and she has been an excellent mother to them, very attentive and diligent. The kittens have thrived and they are now old enough to be adopted to forever families, so it is time for Duchess to find her loving permanent home as well. She has blossomed from a straggly and scrawny stray struggling to fend for her litter into a sleek, beautiful and loving young cat.
Duchess has been given her first vaccination and she will be spayed the last week of September. She is a friendly and affectionate cat who loves to be petted and cuddle, and she is very gentle with young children. She is still protective of her kittens and tends to be wary of the other cats and dog in the foster home, but she is otherwise a very laid back and sweet cat who deserves a kind and caring home to show her the love that she so happily gives to those around her.
