Help for cats and kittens needed

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 25, 2009

People for Animals of Saskatchewan Inc. (P.F.A.) is a local, non-profit, volunteer-run animal welfare organization which works to assist companion animals in need and to educate people about the humane treatment of pets and other animals.

PFA has been extremely busy over the long, cold winter helping stray, abandoned and neglected cats by obtaining veterinary care for them, fostering them, and then finding loving permanent homes for them. We have rescued many frozen, frostbitten and starving tame cats and we still have many in foster care that need homes.

Now that it’s spring, street cats are starting to have kittens and we are already rescuing new-born litters. We need to trap and sterilize as many cats as we can, and rescue as many kittens as we can so that they don’t perpetuate the problem. But, we still have a number of winter rescues that are healing, recovering and looking for homes, including a tiny 10-week old kitten rescued during record-setting cold weather with horrific injuries that were intentionally inflicted, and a pregnant cat dumped by the side of the highway in Sedley who was rescued and gave birth 2 days later.

This is a critical time of year for us, and the more foster homes we have, the more lives we save. We are currently completely full, and we desperately need more homes in which to place rescued cats up for adoption.

We need help from Regina’s animal lovers, if we are going to be able to continue saving the lives of hundreds of animals.

  • We need more foster homes, to temporarily shelter all of these refugees from the streets.
  • We need people to open up their homes and their hearts, and adopt one of our wonderful rescued animals.
  • We need donations of money, food, feline vaccines, and other supplies.
  • We need more volunteers to assist with fundraising, pet rescue, feral team, driving, and many more roles.
