RCR bids goodnight to beloved feral cat, Tripod

Tripod surveying his domain at his feral colony

Easter Sunday brought sadness to Regina Cat Rescue (RCR) volunteers this year with the passing of Tripod, one of our oldest and most beloved feral cats. Tripod was a laid-back cat who ruled the roost at one of the warehouse area feeding stations for over 15 years. He was a favourite among his colony mates - sometimes they would even knock him over with their loving and enthusiastic head rubs.

Life on the streets isn't easy for any feral cat, let alone one with three legs, but Tripod not only survived, he thrived with the support of the RCR Feral Cat Team and was a favourite of volunteers.

Tripod had his challenges - last year, he injured his stump and had to have it amputated even higher up the leg. But, it didn't slow him down and he went right back to ruling over his colony once he recovered from his surgery. Recently, volunteers noticed that he wasn't looking well and so they nabbed him and took him to the vet, where he succumbed to illness.

He will be missed by his feline and human friends alike, but we are consoled knowing that he had a long and happy life and is at peace over the rainbow bridge now.
